I use pc at home, and mac at school. Firefox rocks :D in mac especially since a lot of applications (sorry i don't know the terms) crashes with IE in mac and say "the application has quit unexpectedly" which is pretty frustrated!

If you want Apple to continue to be "behind" (is that a gentle enough word for you?) in the hardware sector, then that's fine.
But the FACT is that most Apple users, DON'T. They want to see Apple competing with PC hardware properly. Apple is already such a small part of the market and IMO, they need to increase speed to
Have you ever heard of the phrase "Give the people what they want" ? Well most people want speed and numbers.
And anyone who has said "I like your style, Nipsy" in this thread, no you don't, you just like the fact that he's defending your precious Macs. You guys whine and complain about what Apple's needs to do right, but as soon as someone points out that Apple is doing something wrong, you suddenly completely disagree with the very points that you yourselves were making. It's pretty pathetic.

Hi I don't know where to put this so please excuse me.
I've noticed that on the bell website they have basically stolen the iChat logo.
http://www.bell.ca/shopping/PrsShpWls_RtpLanding.page
Is there somewhere I can report this to apple?
Thanks.:p
you're right - but this is a pretty random thread to post that in. You could start a new thread. That logo is really close.

I like firefox. It is much more functional and much faster than safari. However, it eats my cpu big time so i mostly use safari.
Oh and did i mention that firefox always hangs on me?

I hear that.
Did you hear the comments after that post too! ;) :)
Hmm, will give Adium and Fire a go. Which do most people prefer?
Edit: Took a look at the Adium website (am at work on a PC so can't try it yet). Looks great! I can't believe I didn't know about this!

I would go with Adium, a lot prettier in my eyes and development seems to be more active. If you check out the desktops thread, a lot of people are using it.

Do you believe just anything that's written? Unlike Barefeets, these tests were compiled on several Macs and averaged out. Barefeets relied on ONE third hand report. And then others quoted Barefeets like it was gospel. Law of averages and law of means. If you are going to rely on reports verify the source has multiple tests to confirm results for more believable statistics.
Sure you don't have an L3 cache, but as someone else observed there is a faster bus. Everything will tend to balance out in the end.
Regardless of the constraints on the bus, it is faster, and so is the RAM. Run your own tests and come out with your own results, and publish them.

Buy the Microtel at Walmart. It has a 800MHZ C3, Lindows, 10GB, etc. and is only $199. For less than $1000, you can a decent supercomputer for less than a 1 Mac.

Apple CEO Steve Jobs, who has been personally involved in the talks, initially proposed selling all films at a flat price of $9.99 -- an offer the studios flatly rejected.
"We can't be put in a position where we lose the ability to price our most popular content higher than less popular stuff," said a studio exec close to the negotiations.

Yes, I read that (three times now) and it still doesn't make me any more comfortable. I don't trust Adobe all that much.
Yeah, Adobe is the Microsoft of the creative industry, except that I have at least slightly more confidence in their decision-making ability. They also have worked well with industry groups in the past.
This is not to say that all of this isn't financially motivated by them - right now they have to write filters for every raw format they want to bring into Photoshop, and I'm sure they'll make money off of something eventually (although it won't be like Acrobat). In reality, this is something the industry needs, but no one else has stepped up to do it.

What makes you think that Apple wants to get into the cell phone business? Cell phones are quickly becoming a commodity device and that's exactly where Apple doesn't want to be.
And the set-up that you're suggesting seems like Apple gets all of the benefits and Motorola gets Apple's name. Doesn't seem like such a good deal for Moto.
Realisitcally, Apple won't be doing any kind of cell phone unless they can put in features that distinguish it from what anyone else is doing. What these features are, who knows. But I do know that the days of people buying $500 cell phones are coming to a close.

Why is everyone so down of the idea of a tablet pc?
If it was less than 3lbs, had a fast G3, airport/bluetooth, gigawire, great video card, Ti res screen, and was 3/4inX12.5inX8.5in.
I would buy it in a second. I'm a student but I can't imagine who wouldn't use one if it could be had for +/-$1200.
If you don't like the idea of not having a keyboard, get a portalbe usb/bluetooth keyboard and mouse, use a built in stand for the screen and you're all set -- and think of all the times you could get away with just the pen. Audio/Video, Checking email, proofing documnets, class/meeting notes, w/ gps option map navigation, etc.
PDA's don't cut it b/c they are too small and slow to do real work, and notebooks are too big to carry and use in many situations.

Strange. Looking at them next to each other like that really shows how much it was directly ripped off. But, didn't someone mention in an early post that Apple and Sony are sharing technologies, whatever that means. I hadn't heard anything about this. Has anyone else?
(I'm still just hanging on the a thread of hope that this might be real....)

Interesting, eh? I guess at its core the article is just a long-winded way of saying that OS X is so good that a gargantuan, unfocused company like Microsoft can't easily copy it. But it does put an interesting perspective on it, doesn't it?
....The piece is interesting as far as it goes, but I like my gloating without the glaring mistatements of fact.

Or we could use the AMD way of setting are chips.
1800+ which runs at like 1.6 ghz... Which wouldn't fool many people but hey it could work... ;) +
Well all I know is that we need some Real clock speed, or something that is just mad fast.
Right now.
