it would surely cost a lot.
this is always the case, when new products appear in the market.
i'd say 2000 $$$.
i am hoping though, that other companies would use this technology too, and not be dependent on Philips to use this technology.
i was never satisfied with philips equipment. maybe it is just me.
and if we need to resort to philips equipment, then i would want to have a choice of machines. philips needs to present 2 to 4 hifis within a month and not just one.
if we will see them in mwsf? good question. i predict, no. it is just too early.
and again, we are talking about apple here. we know how steve loves surprises, although he hasn't surprised us that often in the last few macworlds.

oh, and if the internet provider is giving you the run-around.
http://www.ip-adress.com/
go here, type in the IP address and it'll tell you exactly where the server is that they are connected to. It gives you the IP latitude and IP longitutde.
tell them that it is being connected at this server location and they'll be able to location exactly which hub it's being connected at and .. yea. trace the burgulars home down..
its says I'm from Phoenix but I"m not from there.....or is that where my ISP is from?

Sounds like it would work nicely for you to work at the Apple store. And no, there is no better place to work in the mall than at the Apple store. :)

The 0.7 isn't really a beta. It's a solid release that has had many betas and several release candidates before it. I've been watching the development and can say the developers are doing a great job, and this is a major release for Adium, with many new features, not just further bug fixes.
If it's not 1.0 or higher...It's beta. No matter how many new features it has, if they can't release a set build at 1.0, then SOMETHING is wrong. What are they waiting for? The new iChat in Tiger to blow them out of the water?

Well 1.25 owners should be pretty well off for quite a few years, seeing as Apple's definition of obsolete means that they no longer make parts for it. There aren't too many obsolete Apple computers, and before they are obsolete they are concidered vintage.

Very nice idea for an app! I've been doing this by hand until now--one of the first non-photo uses I thought of for the color display.
FYI, it supports MapQuest and MapBlast too.
EDIT: Oops... it's text-only. Guess I'll keep loading the actual maps onto my iPod by hand.

Quick question: Does Spotlight index all drives straight away or just the boot/system drive? Does it give you any options when it starts doing its thing?
All Files on All Drives unless you specify otherwise in the control panel. Pardon me, System Preferences Panel. Been using Macs too long, I still call em CDEFs.

I wonder if applying a bit of thermal paste would help...:p
No!!! It'll conduct heat right there! Oh, the humanity!
Unless you put in on like Apple. Then it's an insulator. ;)And yes, I know that's what you meant....

I know this is heresy around here, but Google really isn't all that much better than Yahoo or MSN search. They work fine. It'd take much less than a billion dollars for me to promise never to use Google again.
IPods are more of an improvement on the competition than Google is, but it's not like you can't still do the same thing with a different product. Again, for $500 or so, I'd switch in a heartbeat.

AMD will beat Apple anyway. Hammer versions of Athlons are due out early next year to mid next year.
Apple is no longer the "first" to do many things. True they brought UNIX to the desktop, but seriously, how many of those grannies use UNIX? Other than indirectly accessing the extreme stability and such. I, however, congratulate Apple's efforts to "hide" UNIX to the people who don't need it yet expose it to the power users.
It's not about being the first these days. It's about doing it and doing it well.

yeah, they did! Unfortunately I waited till the end of September (AppleExpo Paris...) when the $200,- promo went out, because I thought new PBs would come out soon:(
...as we now know, they didn't and I have to wait till January or later to pay more for features I don't need (Superdrive, IMHO more heat due o overclocked processor to compete with intel Mhz...)
But maybe I will be suprised because by now I set my expectations so low...:D

I had a problem like this before. A lot of it actually installs and you can move it simply, remove Kazaa and look through Add/Remove programs and see if you see any junk in there.
Sometimes there in there. If that doesn't work... *gets XP disks*

check it out. (http://news.dmusic.com/article/19840)
what an article!
let me summarize the important stuff: gates paid 5 bil to buy bmg (one of the big 4 music companies) and seperate from sony, so bmg wouldn't be allowed on itunes any more (as the deal runs out soon). so now itunes will be missing half it's music. so then itunes goes in the trash for a lot of users. (recycle bin for them m$ fanbois).. so, if that happens, apple will release its ipod phone, except thier slated carrier is to be sprint, and microsoft is thinking about buying them.
this part just has to be quoted:
If it plays out this way, expect Steve Jobs to
throw the long ball. THAT'S why he switched Macs to Intel, in case of
just this possibility. Yup, with his back to the wall Steve's going to
go for computer market share. He's going to allow Windows to run on
Macs and license Mac OS X to all comers, i.e. Dell, Compaq, Gateway...
It's either win, or go down in flames.
hit the deck boys! we are goin down fast!!
i lov ya apple, but you are in quite a predicament, there.. im just callin them how i see them.. </italian accent>
ps. i have no idea as to the credability of this article.

I downloaded it, and unless I am missing something, it's got nowhere near the power of GIMP yet. They've got a long way to go to make this usable software, but if they implement the full GIMP feature sets with Mac OS X GUI, that will be an impressive accomplishment.
I don't think they ever will...according to their website (http://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?thread_id=826648&forum_id=244287), they're leaving that task up to some sort of GIMP Aqua project. I've heard rumblings of such a one, but I think right now, there are just several projects to make GTK, which underpins GIMP, work in Aqua.
It sounds like this project wants to use some GIMP code and contribute some code to GIMP, but to primarily make an app that the author thinks makes sense for the Mac community.... Hmmm.....
