His name is Justin Long (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Justin_Long). He was recently in the movie "Waiting..." with Ryan Reynolds. yoda13 is right, the tv show is called Ed. His claim to fame was starring in Dodgeball with Vaughn and Stiller. For me, he represents youth...its what most college student looks like these days.
The pc guy is John Hodgman (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Hodgman). He looks like Bill Gates, the posture, the glasses, the awful haircut, and the inability to make snappy comebacks. :D
You know where else I remember him? He was the obsessed fan in Space Quest, the spoof on star wars and Star Trek...

What's the point? If anything, this discussion shows our weakness in numbers.

I think you missed the point xrhajj. The bluetooth would not be for transferring files but for using wireless headphones so you could have the ipod running in a bag and have the headphones on your head, WITH NO WIRES.
Yes, this technology is still "new" so to speak, but if you would go and actually take a look at some of the bluetooth headsets that are coming out you would see they are very nice and very compact and light - check out nokia's new earpiece or motorolas. THe SonyEricsson HBH-15 is now the old model, the HBH-30 is smaller and lighter. All these are only for cell use, SonyEricsson also makes a stereo bluetooth set that has a matchbook sized clip which holds the battery and transceiver along with two wired earbud headphones so you can leave the iPod in your bag and only have to deal with a small lapel clip to adjust volume. Several other companies are coming out with similar as well as actual headphones. The power consumed by one of these is very little as it is mostly receiving (as anyone who knows radio signals will tell you, receivers can even have the batteries taken off of them and still have enough residual power left in the circuits to pick up the signal, be it not for very long) this means the batteries needed are getting smaller and smaller. You simply recharge when you get home. The "point" to all of this is you can walk around without trailing a 6 foot wire behind you.

Intriguing.
I would welcome a new Powerbook Duo, and I'm sure that a lot of mac fans would welcome it's return.

The BBC today unveiled radical plans to rebuild its website around user-generated content, including blogs and home videos, with the aim of creating a public service version of MySpace.com.
Ashley Highfield, the BBC director of new media and technology, also announced proposals to put the corporation's entire programme catalogue online for the first time from tomorrow in written archive form, as an "experimental prototype", and rebrand MyBBCPlayer as BBC iPlayer.
"BBC iPlayer is going to offer catch-up television up to seven days after transmission," said Mr Highfield. "At any time you will be able to download any programme from the eight BBC channels and watch it on your PC and, we hope, move it across to your TV set or down to your mobile phone to watch it when you want."
The find concept relates to next-generation search and unlocking the BBC archive. From tomorrow internet users will for the first time be able to search for details of the corporation's entire programme catalogue as far back as 1937.
Available to international audiences or non-licence payers who do not own a TV? Or is this staking out ground to make TV licences mandatory for computer users in the UK?

When I was researching laptops I found several PC laptops that were both cheaper and technically better than the iBook. Some of them were quite nice looking too. Apple's current laptops are nice, but you buy them because you want an Apple, or MacOS X, not because of price/performance.
...and yet you don't put them out there for comparison. How odd, that someone comes in here and makes this kind of blanket statement, while also listing a PC as their main machine. It almost seems, I don't know, about as trollish as the claim that CherryOS' site went down because of "hackers" that couldn't stand to hear what they had to say.
If there are laptops that are "cheaper and technically better," then I'd love to see them.

Within the MIPS core? Pretty funky if so.
The first I remember of split carry processors was the TMS340 graphics accelerator from Texas Instruments in the mid 90s. Become a bit more popular since then.
On the other hand, it's possible the mainframe guys did this back in the 60s - many of the "new" acceleration techniques got invented in the 60s or 70s by IBM for mainframes and then waited in the wings until microprocessors could catch up :D

Notice how AMD and Intel each have SIMD units clocking at well over 2ghz. In the case of SSE2, it can even do things AltiVec can't.
No they don't, at least on the Pentium 4, it takes 2 clock cycles to complete a SiMD instruction (I realise SiMD is many instructions at once but you know what I mean). Right now they've mananged to get their SiMD unit to 1.4Ghz while the cpu runs at 2.8. Personally speaking if motorola did this to the G4 and it meant we could have a 2Ghz G4 with the altivec performance of a 1Ghz G4 then that's a good thing, Altivec only helps speed up certain operations, a faster cpu speeds up all operations.

Does the cpu have something like HT so two processes can be ran?
Are powermac's at 1.8ghz dual cpu or just single? I really hoped that she had got the 2ghz one but she got 1.8 some how and I cant even find it on apples site. She only ordered it last week and we should be getting it something this week.
thanks for the help.
Also, does it get hot at 100%?Macs don't have hyperthreading, but they run multiple processes very well, far superior to Windows machines actually, especially on dual-CPU models. 1.8 GHz PowerMacs can be either single (http://www.lowendmac.com/ppc/g5-18s.html) or dual (http://www.lowendmac.com/ppc/g5.html) processor (also see this (http://www.lowendmac.com/ppc/g5-b.html)). Some can hold 4 GB of RAM and PCI slots, some 8 GB with PCI-X. Depends on the model. All PowerMacs get fairly hot at 100%. The fans will keep the case from getting too hot but they can get noisy with 9 fans all running at max speed. Check out Barefeats (http://www.barefeats.com/g5.html) for some comparisons of various models (there are other 1.8 tests on the site but you'll have to hunt around for them). Also try this test (http://www.macworld.com/2004/11/news/ibookbench/index.php/?lsrc=mcrss-1104). I don't know about folding but I'm sure if you do a Google search for folding you can easily find tables of how fast various computers will do it.

I hear the Brooklyn Bridge may be up for sale. Want to buy it?
Somehow I doubt your veracity in basing a purchase on rumors.

It's just Black with a few new things tacked on??
Come on, that's lame - 1080p or no. It's been years since Ninja Gaiden came out. Give us a proper sequel - new story, weapons, moves, characters, the whole nine yards.

Hmmm...I kinda like the way it's like a wave in OS X. But I guess if you could tweak the width of the wave, we'd both be happy. Then again, I turned magnification off in its entirety.
I turned off magnification in the dock after a couple of days, and I assume everyone else would to.
Sure it's nice to look at but it's completely useless and always gets in the way.

The 14" iBook is already a tank... a 15" screen? I hope not. The 12" is the one raking in the cash. Why not make that the SE model? or are you thinking the 14" sucks so bad that they have to change it?

More importantly in that thread, the dual-867 goes to 1067, which completely defeats the purpose of buying the 1GHz, especially when dual-1GHz can only be overclocked to 1167. The dual-1.25 will probably run at 1.5GHz with more cooling, but runs extremely well at 1.3GHz.
Someone could make a lot of money buying a thousand of these, modding them, then jacking the price up $200-$300 and reselling them at their overclocked state.
I wouldn't call a 33Mhz increase in bus speed and 333Mhz DDR as apposed to 266Mhz worthless. Yes I know the CPU only accesses the ram at half speed but everything else can access the ram at full speed with DMA.
