There is no access to USB peripherals - other than mouse and K/b. The mouse does not even work properly as the right button and scroll wheel are both disabled. No sign of my web cam (Logitech Pro 4000) that works fine in both Windows and on my 'real' Mac.
System Profile shows the emulator as Power Mac G3(PCI Graphics) with a PowerPC G4(0.0) cpu. Looks just like my Beige G3 with G4 upgrade card.
dmesg (from Terminal) shows indeed it is emulating a Gossamer mobo
Got boot device: IOService:/GossamerPE/pci@80000000/AppleGracklePCI...
Networking worked - despite the warning about having to renumber my LAN because it doesnt agree with their addressing scheme. I just ignored the warning.
It works - its slow but has not paniced or crashed in any way. Doubt I will register it but was intersting to set up.

i hear some of your points scem 0,
but when os x really grows up with "enough" industry support...or until i stop hearing complaints because apple finally got it "right";
and when macs go 2 ghz;
then who will care if wintels go 3.5 ghz?
will speed be a major issue then?
or will we have to catch up with the wintel world, ghz for ghz? (which i doubt will be necessary once ALL computers are faster than the needs of people)

My PS3 was folding from Thursday through Saturday morning... well... at some point it froze, my PS3 bricked and now I have a new PS3.
I'm kinda scared to start it going again although I hear many people have left theirs on longer. I really want to fold (and the PS3 can fold well!) but I don't want to have to get a new PS3 every few days to do it...

What? Another Bradley Student? Who are you?
Yep another fellow Bradley student. I'm a freshman who lives in U Hall.
But to keep the post on topic (cause we all know how important that is;) ), has anyone else seen any ads on their campus? I've seen a few posters up and it really seems like Apple is trying to push the student discount. Being a freshman I wouldn't know if this was new or not so I was curious.

Gah... "it's against the law"... whatever.
When stuff is ********, you have to protest. I assume you also think all "illegal" protests, such as the sit-ins and the like during the civil rights movement, were wrong because they were technically illegal?
My mp3 collection is 100% legal (ripped from CDs and downloaded from artists' websites). However, I might consider using this service. Everyone still gets paid, and I get a version of the song that I CAN ****ING PLAY ON MY LINUX PARTITION. *ahem*

Ok ok I might be a bit rough but the last time I played DVD player on Windows... whenever I inserted the DVD movie, there's a popup that say do you want to install this new DVD player app? This sucks too. Can you name me one of their good dvd player and I can check it out? Thanks! :p
When I had my PC, I used to use intervideo WinDVD (I think that is what it was called). Works a heck a lot better than Dell's version. :)

Now when exactly did you get your iMac G5? Oh well, I guess prices are never safe, but now it's gonna be tough to sell my 12" to get a 15" without paying a huge upgrade price. :(
meh, the 20" iMac is only 50 cheaper, no biggie :D

You should be able to ride an Amtrak train directly from Lancaster, since the store seems to be just north of the tracks. Since there is a SEPTA regional train there, it should be an easy ride for people from Philly and Micro Center in Radnor is pretty much right on the way, too. It was just off U.S. 30 (Lancaster Avenue) and the new Apple store is probably another 15 minutes west on the SEPTA train.
It's certainly cheaper than putting a store in the Philadelphia city limits.

If (and that's a big if) Apple were to port OS X to x86, it wouldn't run on just any x86. The computers it runs on would still be Macs, they would still have proprietary hardware in them to prevent people from installing the OS on generic computers.
The possibility of an x86 port was higher a couple of years ago than it is now. With the advent of the G5, Apple currently has no reason to go to Intel/AMD.
I installed PearPC yesterday. There's something sad about waiting 7 bounces for Terminal.

I thought Godfather Blackhand edition would be just another PS2 port with tacked on Wii controls but IGN just gave it an 8.0 and generally had good things to say about it. That makes it the 5th highest Wii game they've rated behind Zelda, SSX, Elebits, and WarioWare.
I'll probably rent it first but this is surprising news to me. EA is doing a good job even if it is just ports. Hopefully, they will have a few new IPs on the Wii in the next year or so...

I think the BBC are blatantly pro-Apple. Take this image accompanying a pretty much unrelated story about search engines (it's on the Technlogy front page rather than the story itself):
Though ironcally, the iMac in the foreground has a Windows-related page open! And the story, for those interested:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/4900742.stm
All that needs to happen now is for Labour to announce they favour Apple too, and then the circle will be complete
Yesterday 11:08 PM
Must be the coolness factor, can't believe otherwise!

A lot of media uses Macs, and have done for a long time..
CityTV in Toronto use Safari for one particular CityTV programme production.
The Toronto Star used a PowerBook photo in a Photography meetup related story.

I've seen no attempt to quantitively factor quality into all these price comparisions that get thrown around. The build quality on my shiny doors is better than the build quality on any PC I've personally seen since a really nice Intel (yes, Intel) built PC from about '93.
If there's a desire to compare simply on price, then you might as well use a random number generator - it's too much Apple and Oranges.
I remember the storm caused a few years ago when a number of the UK PC manufacturers admitted that a 5% - 10% failure rate was the rates they operated on. I've just witnessed 3 motherboards out of about 15 go "phut" at work - due to design defects rather than going out of warranty as well. So should I conclude that they're good value for money because they are cheaper?

Entirely depends on what you want out of the game. If you want to go after the very top end rewards then you will have to group together to get them, and invest a severe amount of time doing so.
However, it sounds like you play exactly the same way I do. Blizzard have put a lot of effort into making WoW accessible for the solo/casual player, and there is a vast amount of content that you can easily and enjoyably play in the way you want. You are in no way penalised for not being part of a guild or for not participating in raids etc. I am up to level 50 and I have played very much in the way you have described and enjoyed every minute of it.
I would say give it a go.
