I bet Apple's Lawyers are happy with the Supreme this week.

Creative wants an immediate injunction, Apple will say NO we probably won't have to because ...

U.S. Supreme Court sides with eBay in victory for patent reformers (http://news.findlaw.com/ap/o/51/05-15-2006/056f001358d58724.html)

Even if Apple loses, it'll be license fees years from now.

Chances are it's not too big an investor worry right now.

Are you basing your prediction on reason and research or plain apple fanboyism?

If you read the first article, it says:

"In early representatives of Apple and Creative, including Apple CEO Steve Jobs, met to discuss ways they could work together, the complaint stated. Apple requested to license Creative's technology and also suggested it could invest in a potential spinoff of Creative's music player business, but Creative declined both proposals, according to Creative's complaint."

Why would apple do this? It is obvious that apple knows it might lose, hence trying to break a deal outside of court.
That meeting occurred FIVE YEARS AGO. Well before Apple could have even thought of Creative suing them for an interface. I think the mountain of prior art by, well, almost everyone (like NeXT, and since Apple bought NeXT, all of that prior art is now Apple's), will probably end up invalidating Creative's patent.

Really? I find IGN very balanced compared to say Gamespot who way under rates everything that comes to the Wii.

Zelda TP 8.9, OoT VC 8.9, SMW VC 8.5, AlttP VC 8.5, SMB VC 8.3 WTF? These classics shouldn't score any lower than they originally did considering they are exactly the same games.

IGN has only given a few Wii games decent scores so I don't see how they are biased but whatever...I don't really rely on critics to form an opinion on a game but it is helpful to figure out which ones to rent first.

In any case, have you played it? How do you know its gimicky? I don't really care that its a ports since like many, I never played the original anyway. And the fact that its EA gives me hope as it could be a really decent game like Madden '07 or SSX Blur. The only gimicky tacked on EA game I have played so far is NFS Carbon.

You should read GameSpot's reviewing system, a 10 today is worth more than a 10 8 years ago, that means that while OoT was a 10 game by 1998 standards, its an 8.9 game today (according to GameSpot), keep in mind as well that its a re-release.

Of course if Apple is exploring HyperTransport as a system bus, you'd expect some AMD people to be around the Apple campus.

But of course that's too simple an explanation.

Does anyone know if this features an installer? For the past 2 years the Mac OS X versions were basicly just the unix versions, not including a graphical installer. I was never able to get it to work.

I believe you found an old PowerBook G3.

This is most likely pretty old, on the order of 3-4 years. Judging from the descriptions, it is most likely either the Wallstreet enclosure or more likely the Lombard/Pismo PowerBooks. I recognise the angled fans on the sides as being like those in my Pismo as is the push button release for the screen portion of the laptop. There is no such release button on the Walstreet models(they have a pull-release latch). Additionally, the drawings are purposefully vague to represent a more generic enclosure with the detail digrams focussing on the innovative and thus patented parts which could well explain the double squres represing "mouse" buttons.

BTW.... the head of the PowerBook Team has said repeatedly that Apple's reseach has found that most folks carry their internal expansion bay devices outside the Powerbook but in the same bag which means that there is little true portability gained by not providing internal expansion bays and thus the justification for dropping them on the PowerBook Ti line in favor of a slimmer design.

I remember a line on Top Gear where they compared the sleakness of an Aston Martin to that of a PowerBook.

Likewise, the BILLIONS of songs "stolen" vs. purchased on iTMS speaks volumes about people's feeling about DRM, RIAA, and these laws you speak so highly of..

I suspect it probably has more to do with the fact the music is free than it has to do with ideology. People were pirating music way before the RIAA and DRM became 'evil'. They're the justification for piracy, not the reason.

Piracy is an economic behaviour. I can point you to plenty of impartial (ie not funded by anyone) studies on this. In order to stop piracy you have to compete with it. Both sides are dressing it up as some kind of moral war, but it (mostly) isn't.

Wow, I have only had Mail crash on me once (2004-07-16) since I started using it as my primary e-mail client back in September 2002.

Have you ever thought about trying to find out why it is crashing so much? Because I don't think that that is normal for it.

Since I've been using Panther (about a week after it was released) Mail has crashed regularly (usually 1 out of 4 times I've used it). It occurs when quit the app and it just hangs...forever, until I force quit the process.

Only until recently (10.3.8) has this problem subsided...until a few days ago when it magically happened again. They've had a few problems with Mail, but its probably specific to certain setups.

That's just a rehash of the rumors. That site says:
Strangely enough, I haven't heard of anyone being invited to the "launch" this weekend nor have I heard that it is actually happening. Maybe Apple doesn't like us, but the radio silence is absolutely weird.

Could that be, perhaps, because there is no event?

    RogueLdr:

I thought they had gotten the heat down on the newer faster PowerBooks.
    Why do you think that?

    rEd Eye:

That laptop is HUGE compared to the PBook... Alienware doesn't even seem to say how heavy or how thick it is. And certainly Apple could change the PBook so that it has more airflow though a better cooling system, but have they, and how loud would that be? I guess I should just assume that they will improve the cooling system...
