If this is true (transfer of the music without DRM to be added by iTunes), then couldn't anyone with a bit of networking knowledge just pipe the packets into a file when they purchase something from the store using iTunes?

Silly me. (http://froogle.google.co.uk/froogle?q=2.5%22+HDD&hl=en&scoring=p&a_n0=gigabyte&a_y0=3&a_f0=50.000000&a_t0=80.000000&a_o0=3&lnk=gigabyte) Not like you can get a 60gb 2.5" HDD for £33.
£74 gets you an 80gb drive WITH casing too and I suspect it comes in some form of packaging. £60 without a case.

Now that I needlessly checked up on 2.5" HDD prices can I rest now?

Wii Remote is justified, or haven't you heard of R&D? how much R&D does an off the shelf 2.5" HDD in a case (with packaging!) need?
Wii Component cables cost too much? Go get 3rd party ones. 360 HDD cost too much? You're buggered.

EDIT: Actually you can get just a 120gb 2.5" HDD for £50! Time to upgrade the PowerBook methinks.

Now why do hackers have to go do this? they say they do it cuz the prices that cd's are is "unfair" and "overpriced". now i simply have to ask the question... if your a hacker.. more than likely you deal with computers. dont you think that your overpaid for you job? for a small simple example.. best buy geek squad.. overpriced.. they want 30+ dollars to install a stick of ram. the point is... the money is for the most part equally distributed to be able to pay these high prices. income is accomidated for the high prices of products. if u think it's bad over here.. go to japan and try and buy a medium fries on their "dollar menu" which in usd=$5. so back my main point... just pay the frick'n money, most ppl's income are accomidated for the increase cost. if you feel u cant afford a cd... that's what christmas or your birthday is for or even the radio. by the way... i'm not an "artist" either... im majoring in ECE myself so i'm not biased.

Have you ever applied at an Apple Store?

I did a few times, to numerous ones.

They say you need to apply online.

but no one I know who got hired did that, they walked in and talked up the management, knew someone who worked there, or sucked the right ****. LoL.

To get a job at an Apple Store, its a friggen crapshoot.

Samsung has only just brought its 5G facility up and Apple is going to wait to take advantage of the lower costs it brings.

Aparts from any of which the newest ranges on monitors are only just being released and Apple will never have a zero rollover time.

I doubt most college students have enough time to watch TV. And if they do, I'll be envying them (future CS major here).

Since I've been using Panther (about a week after it was released) Mail has crashed regularly (usually 1 out of 4 times I've used it). It occurs when quit the app and it just hangs...forever, until I force quit the process.
On the pre-Mac OS X versions of Mail (and MailViewer) all optimization was done manually. But now it is done in the background while Mail is running. If it is hanging when you go to quit, there is a very good chance it is in the middle of doing house keeping and needs a little time to finish. If you force quit while it is doing this you run the risk of damaging the mailboxes that are being optimized which could lead to further crashes and instability of Mail.

I had one client who was, well, impatient with Mail. He wanted it done when he was done with it and force quit Mail when it wouldn't quit when he wanted it to. It was quite a mess recovering his mail when his mailboxes stopped being readable by Mail.

I'm not sure this is what is happening here, but it sorta sound similar.

I'm sure the new dualies are great machines, especially with Jaguar, but there are some fundamental limitations with the G4. It seems to have run its course. Time for something new.

No L3 means apple COULD charge much less than with L3 cache. That stuffs expensive in 2 and 3MB chunks.
Heres another point I haven't heard anyone talk about. DDR RAM prices. I don't want to think of how much 900Mhz DDR (actual 450) is going to cost. And if Apple is retarded, I REALLY don't want to think about saving $ by putting slower RAM, or even worse, a slower memory controller made by Apple into these machines. I'm slightly nervous about pricing. I see lots of reasons for the 970 to be a reason to make Mac's less money. However, I see Apple as having lots of reasons to make the 970 responsible for equally high or even higher priced macs.

Before too many more people get excited about what the Apple store pays in Northern Virginia, there is the other side of the story - the cost of living around the Washington DC area. One bedroom apartments going for $1,500+ a month is normal. Rather buy a small condo rather then rent, no problem if you have $700,000 to cough up. It is what the newer ones start at. They can go as high as four million per unit. The Washington Post had a story not too long ago about a single mother government worker who was finding making it on just $60,000 a year in Arlington nearly impossible. Sorry to break someones bubble, but $8 is not a living wage in Northern Virginia, perhaps other parts of the country, if one is careful, but not there.

Actually, those are made by Shuttle (http://shuttleonline.com/) They're pretty well-designed little boxes, especially since they're from the PC side.
They started with a PIII version with 1PCI slot and moved up to a PIV version with 1 PCI & 1 AGP. They're going to release an Athlon one with an Nforce chipset before the year is over.
I might get one of the PIV versions in a couple weeks.:)

AHHHHHHHHH. DUCK AND COVER! The apple PDA crap is back! Well i guess we can let you off cuz ur a newbie, but u better learn pretty quick that the two words Apple and PDA used in conjunction in the the hardware rumors section is a big no-no. We also cant have the idea spring back up after we had to kill it during the MWNY era.

Remember something, Nipsy, i'm on your side here. I want Apple to do well just as much as you do. I just happen to believe that Apple needs to do it in a different way than you and I don't know why you needed to take this argument to insults, other than some need to always believe that you are right.

benixau made a rash reply, without reading my posts and believed that i hate Macs, because he was blindly supporting Apple, just as you are.

"Now, I'd love if you could quote an insult from me."

That wasn't actually directed towards you.

"I'm intelligent enough to know that Apple does not have the market cap to fully control their chip evolution, and you, it seems, are not."

    There you go.

"No, but you suggested that we should rally around some cause (design chips, boycott Apple, etc.) and vocalize. "

Where did i say we should design chips or boycott Apple? Now you're just liying and it's no wonder you have come to your conclusions, considering you fabricate things like this.

"When we started this argument, I observed..."

This is exactly my point! We are suggesting virtually the same thing, except you are fabricating arguments for some reason that i can't understand, unless you simply "like the sound of your own voice" as it were.

"Without you, I'm sure they'd be gunning to slow things down. I'm sure you'll be back to tell us how this 1.8 GHz 64 bit Power4 derivative is slow compared to the 3.8 GHz PIV next year."

Yes, that's very intelligent. [/sarcasm] See i can do it too! I wasn't saying that my suggestion in any way influences Apple, and if you were so intelligent, you would have known that.

This is the exact reason i suggested that people let Apple know what they want. A company, one that wants to stay in business at least, will not completely ignore its customers and if you let them know what you want in large numbers, you may well get it.

If anyone has demonstrated lack of intelligence in this whole thread, Nipsy, it's you. You lie and misinterpret peoples posts in order to get your points across. Which, in the end, seem to be incredibly similar to the very points that you are dismissing.

I'll say it again, take your arguments elsewhere, as someone who lies, misinterprets people's posts and more importantly seems to simply want to fire up an argument that isn't there, as you do, is pointless in discussing anything with.

If you are intelligent, as you so call yourself, i fear for society.

The UK has a tradition for very expensive, sophisiticated advertising campaigns - the prevalence of the BBC means that the British traditionally have low tolerance for advert breaks so they have to be enjoyable and endear themselves to the public. As a result, we don't 'buy in' a huge amount - although I bet the new Apple ones would go down really well here, they are very much in the British quirky/funny advertising tradition, unlike any older apple ads I can think of. :)

The exceptions tend to be cosmetic/beauty/frozen food type products which, as someone said, often seem to be badly dubbed from German... and Microsoft/IBM business I.T. adverts. I can't believe those Microsoft adverts have ANY effect in the British market, other than retaining brand identity.

I use FF here at home on my PC with 56k dial up and find it a lot faster than IE. I also use FF at work on my G5 Mac running 10.3 with a T1 broadband connection and find FF to be faster than Safari. The only slower bit I have noticed when comparing it to Safari is when I launch FF, compared to Safari it takes longer to spring into action. I prefer the tabbed browseing in FF, something Safari doesnt have. I think a lot of this article comes down to each persons opinion of one browser over the other.

    Don't buy one then................

I hope Apple offers 2 options.... 1 with a conventional 'Combo' drive and one with the SuperDrive........ just to keep the winjers at bay!! And I don't think Apple are going to change the TiBooks form factor.... the technology is as good as small enough now!!

A DVD is a huge bonus though... great for archiving..... and ultimately much more reliable than trusting all your work to an external HD....... if that goes 'PING' you're doomed!!
