if it does, there will be more furious people
it would be another way of apple screwing people who buy their stuff early on... ie, early supporters... then being screwed for not waiting
i think we've seen enough of that for a bit

I really like the feature that keeps the games/movies from auto loading. It got pretty annoying every time I started up the system and I didn't want to use what was already in the drive.
However, I was saddened to see that the update did not include the much anticipated DVD "up-scaler". Perhaps this will be in future additions of the Fimware?

Maybe they're going to supply graphics chips for the Nintendo GameCube, shown in the entertainment stand.

True, but that's not a problem for the rest of us...having to deal with multple formats is something all of us has to wrestle with, so solving that problem helps all of us, not just Adobe.
Don't get me wrong - standardization is my job. I'm just saying that I'm sure Adobe's intentions weren't purely altruistic when they made this a freely available standard. And I don't really care - good ideas should make the people who think of them some extra cash.

More importantly in that thread, the dual-867 goes to 1067, which completely defeats the purpose of buying the 1GHz, especially when dual-1GHz can only be overclocked to 1167. The dual-1.25 will probably run at 1.5GHz with more cooling, but runs extremely well at 1.3GHz.
Someone could make a lot of money buying a thousand of these, modding them, then jacking the price up $200-$300 and reselling them at their overclocked state.
I wouldn't call a 33Mhz increase in bus speed and 333Mhz DDR as apposed to 266Mhz worthless. Yes I know the CPU only accesses the ram at half speed but everything else can access the ram at full speed with DMA.

WAIT! Don't upgrade!
First, you don't need anything special for watching vids...just conversion that's all.

My comments were about the people who wrote the software, not those that just use it. It's the PyMusique programmers that may face legal troubles, while those who merely use the software may or may not face consequences (I suspect that the worse for them might be termination of their iTunes account, in which case they won't have to worry any longer about iTunes DRM).
Thanks for clearing that up, but I still don't undertsand why the creator(s) of PhMusique sohuld face legal charges. What have they done illegaly?

Is it just me, or had ThinkSecret just about shriveled up and died since Apple went after them (and probably eliminated all of their confidential sources, too)..
I mean remember when we used to get artists renderings of Cinema Displays before they were relaesed and they ended up being accurate? iMac release right on the nose...
Now they cant even get the MacBook release straight...

I think it is fine to single apple out. If you are a big company and are getting a lot of media attention then it fair game that you get negitive attention as well. You dont see dell getting the same possible media attention for there new products as apple (this is not an agurment about quility here) but apple gets it. Then it only fair apple gets the negitive as well.
Plus apple is in a spot to start forcing an industry reform. The ones who have the media power to that I think are fair game to be singled out.
I didn't mean to say that Apple shouldn't be criticized and isn't responsible for doing something about the problem, it's just not fair to imply that they're the only company with this problem. I do think Apple should use their position to push for reform.

Didn't apple just release the a new version of the darwin base code for the x86? Even though moving to x86 would be a pain in the butt...it could be done. But seriously, I wouldn't want them to do it. I like my iBook just the way it is thank you very much.

I just placed my order for a dual 867 and 17" lcd last week so hopefully nothing new will come out for a while!
Unless of course Apple wants to upgrade my order (but I could use the $200 MIR)
I like the 17" lcd, but using programs that are designed for widescreen monitors like FCP and iMovie it kind of sucks as there's a lot of wasted space.
However, the looks alone make up for it.

I'm willing to wait and see if the next version still has a widescreen display - an absolute necessity. And, of course, these new babies have to last. A slot-loading SuperDrive wouldn't go amiss, either...
;)
I don't see widescreen going away anytime soon. I wouldn't be surprised if the industry adopts this in the future but they'll probably have to standardize on a size first.

I agree... if you look at movies and ads, you would think 95% of the US uses Apple Computers...especially TiBooks.

Yes you can put it in your list of login items, but this does not start it when you are not logged in. Or when others are logged in. The script makes to boot up so it runs even when no one it logged in. Its not a problem if you are always logged in.

Just don't make a habit of posting links to sites where you can buy stuff like that. Some people may think that you are spamming, then you get banned. But that was funny.

The classics you speak of are that good to you because they have a nostalgic and emotional value, I mean, I still think Vice City is the best GTA simply because it entertained me so much and I had such good moments with that game but I knowfor a fact that technically, San Andreas is a better game.
No, Vice City is better because of what they didn't include. Nowhere outside of America does adding more make something better (which is funny as the console GTA's were developed in Scotland). Bigger is not related to better. The whole Virtual Pet aspect of SA really put me off, get health by eating food, but not too much! Distracted from the main game itself. Vice City didn't have needless things like that, or a world map that was simply too big.
Unless your confusing technical achievement with better. Just take a good long look at some disasters that use modern technology, Rise of the Robots? PS3?
